Estrogen Matters: Why Taking Hormones in Menopause Can Improve Women's Well-Being and Lengthen Their Lives -- Without Raising the Risk of Breast Cancer.

This brilliant, groundbreaking book, co-authored by Avrum Bluming MD and Carol Tavris PhD. tackles the confusing and often controversial subject of HRT. Realising there was so much misinformation out there, they decided to set the record straight and this book is the result. It is so well researched that it’s every scientists dream, but it’s written so that every day folk, like me, can digest the information and feel comfort in their expertise.

The show today answers many questions women have about HRT, it’s implications on heart health, breast cancer, osteoporosis and alzheimers.

Dr Bluming has spent the past two decades studying the benefits and risks of hormone replacement therapy administered to women with a history of breast cancer, with over 60% of his work focused on breast cancer.

Carol Tavris received her PhD in social psychology from the University of Michigan. Is the author of numerous books, including,Mistakes Were Made (But Not By Me) and and has received numerous awards for her efforts to promote gender equality, science, and skepticism.

I was delighted to have them on the show, in this clear, witty and informative chat on why Estrogen Matters.

Courtney Townley began working in the fitness industry over two decades ago when she transitioned from the professional dance world. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a BFA and is fully certified as a STOTT PILATES® instructor, National Strength and Conditioning personal trainer (NSCA-CPT), ACE Health Coach, Precision Nutrition Level 2 Coach. Di Danzebrink is the founder of the Menopause Support campaign, which can be found online at www.menopausesupport.co.uk.
She is also the driving force behind the #MakeMenopauseMatter campaign, launched with the support of cross-party MPs at Westminster in October 2018. More than 1,000 people have signed an online petition seeking major change across society in the way we talk about menopause.
Di is a Psychotherapist, Menopause Expert and Wellbeing Consultant who specialises in working privately with women and couples guiding and supporting them through menopause, midlife and beyond. She also provides bespoke menopause training and support solutions for businesses and organisations and menopause training for therapists.
A professional coach, counsellor and trauma therapist with nurse training in the Menopause, she is the media lay spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, a member of the RCOG Women’s Voices Involvement Panel and a member of the British Menopause Society.

Women who overcome obstacles and make significant changes to their lives, can embolden other women to do the same. Grit and Soul is a platform to make this happen. A website created by a team of 3 women, who realized that mainstream media and popular platforms were ignoring women over 40, those who had REAL LIFE experiences to share. So they created a platform to showcase inspiring stories, which range from the nurse who became a goat farmer to one woman's story of starting a campaign after losing her son to an overdose. Dr Brooke Kalanick is a licensed Naturopathic (ND) and Functional Medicine doctor, she attended Seattle, Washington’s Bastyr University, where she earned a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Masters in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.
